Brand Development | Spabear

Spabear, stands for Special Private Access to Beauty Essentials at your Residence, is a beauty In-Home salon spa based in New York. Unlike regular salon, the business performs the service at the comfort of your home via booking on app. This allows hectic people, especially moms, to allow me-time on their busy schedule.

As part of the branding process, I work closely with the founder to establish the brand’s long-term visual presence. As with any other business, the branding starts with a logo design, color, and typography. The final logo allows to display the logo mark only or the full logo. A bear with talk balloon icon. Orange chose as primary color. It is a definite color to wear when one is looking to be friendly and social and when one needs to brighten their day. Orange is the color of the sun, manifests a happy, positive day ahead. Purple, use as secondary color. It represents wisdom and spirituality. Rare, mysterious nature, and perhaps divine. Since purple rarely occurs in nature, it can appear exotic. The brand offers the same feeling to the customer – a unique and divine experience at the comfort of home. Lato, as the brand’s font, is a modern typeface, Sans Serif family font type from the collection of Google Fonts. This allows the display of the branding smoothly from different media, whether it be for online or offline marketing collaterals.

When Parv was asked to create the logo animation, I honestly don’t have any experience. Although I had background using animation softwares, and doing stop motion, this is my first time working on a “non-experimental” type of logo animation. Softwares I used is Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and Premiere.

The original face of Spabear is an actual model in person. But the business’ vision and mission is to pamper customers at the comfort of their home. Similar to childhood toy, a teddy bear provides comfort. To allow flexibility in executing brand materials, we opted to creating a bear mascot that can dance, and transform to different personas. Cute bear has been more fun.

Part of the promotion of Spabear is sending MMS messages. Here are some of the GIF animations I created with Photoshop for message blast. One was sent during the holiday season, and the other for launching.

An animated infographics explainer how Spabear works and how the salon benefits the beauticians and customers. Tools I use are Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and Premiere.

These are the desktop and mobile of the website and app. I designed the user interface and the visual design. The app allows the customer to create an account, earn points and discounts the more they use  the service.
